My role
Lead UX Designer designing the app from conception to delivery.
The Challenge
Busy users want a way to search for cooking tutorials easier and faster.
The goal
Design a responsive website that is simple for users to search for cooking tutorials quickly and also allows users to save videos in their accounts.
The Research:
I conducted interviews and created empathy maps to understand the users’ needs and concerns. The users that I interviewed are working class individuals who either work from home because of the pandemic or already returned to working in the office.
In the research, I found out that most users look for simple and easy cooking tutorials because they are tired from work and don’t have much time to cook at night. Some users would want to meal prep but couldn’t find the recipes they like. All users want an easier way to find tutorials they are looking for.

1: Time
People want to know how long it takes for them to prepare/cook the food
2: Full Screen Mode
People want a way to expand the video to full screen.
3: Similar Tutorials
People want to see similar cooking tutorials of what they viewed.
I added the ”full screen” option at the bottom of the video with the ”favorite” button next to it.
I also added the “you might also like” section at the bottom of the page so users can see similar tutorials.

1
Conduct research on how users successfully use this website to search for what they need.
2
Maybe add more filters or sub-menus so users can look for tutorials even quicker.
3
Provide tips and tricks tutorials on how to prepare and cook meals.
